How to Steal a Motorcycle

By James - 2/13/2005

I read my website logs almost daily. It tells me how may pages were requested, who is reading my blog (their IP) and which articles are the most popular. But these are all warm ups for I really care about. The “headliner” in my opinion is the “Search Query Report". When you enter in a search in Google or Yahoo and then click through to my site, the server logs the words you entered I then go through the logs and see what people are searching for. I see a lot of queries on “motorcycle accidents” and “motorcycle cold weather” but today one caught my attention. It was not that a lot of people search for it, but the reasons behind the search that worried me. The lone query, second from the bottom read:

how to steal a viper motorcycle alarm

Someone typed this into Yahoo and expected to find an answer. If I thought it would do any good I would report their IP adress to the authorities. Keep an eye on your bike or park it in a safe location. If you are looking for some extra security for your ride, take a look at my advice, How and When to Lock your Motorcycle.

  10. it is very easy to jack a bike get a pair of vice scrips clamp them very tight to a flat head screw driver for leverage put the screw drive in iginition hold the vice scrips and hit the screw driver with “heavy” hammer turn the screw driver with vice scripts real hard and bam all the lights come on hit the start button and your ready to take the ride of your life

ohh almost forgot hardest part is to not kock the bolts that hold the ignition on or it will be really hard to get a good hit on the screw driver

I had tried bypassing the solenoid by hotwiring but I wasn’t sure if I was forgeting something. How about one of these tough guy bike jackers tell me if I’m right about the starter or not. If you really take bikes and strip them down then you would know at least a little about the mechanics of everything.

People work hard for their money and then some loser steals something they’ve saved up for, you all f**king suck. I hope you all have a shi**y life, and keep stealing, once day someone is going to knock you the f**k out and you wont get up.

I caught some young guy stealing my neighbors car and I put my fist through his teeth, the f**ker was laying on the ground bleeding from his face when the police showed up, police saw what happened and thanked me for teaching the punk a lesson. I hope you all get the piss beat out of you. Maybe you’ll learn a little something. Work for your money, its hard work but you’ll keep your teeth.

I was a little skeptical thinking about how easily it could be stolen, but after reading this article it makes me think back to the days when I used to have to lock up my bicycle… anyways, good links at the bottom too, I’ve been googling “How to steal a motorcycle” so I could find ways to prevent it. Thanks for the article. :)

  50. all you need is a claw hammer and phillips screwdriver and a long fat screw and a flat head screw driver.
    1. screw the screw in to the ignition barrell wher you insert the key. screw it as far in as possible leaving the tip sticking out slightly.
    2. take the claw hammer and yank the screw out as you would a nail from wood. this will pull half the ignition barrell out taking the bit which you need a key for.
    3. stick the flat head into the remaining hole and turn till you see the little baterie light symbol. this will disable the stering lock aswell.
    4. wheel i off the drive or down the road a little bit then press the eletric start and off you go!!

note: you will need a long strong screw overwise it will snap in ignition.

  54. You want to learn how to bypass the key…..all you have to do is cut the wire under this switch, ON Suzuki it is orande, honda red, kawasaki orange, yamaha red, cut the wire from the plug and reconnect them the bike will start. And too ee if your starter motor is messed up, Just jump the relay on both sides, if nothing happens then it’s the starter motor, If it does crank overm then that means one of your safety switches are out

  56. Well, you see… We steal motorcycles for a living and we never have to start them. We pull up in a van, lower the ramp and roll that sh!t in. Sometimes we have to get a few people to help us lift because there’ll be these annoying little anti-theft locks on them but it’s only a minor inconvenience. We then take them over to someone where we collect anywhere from 1 to 5 grand a bike. So that’s our operation. We’d like to thank all of you for your ignorance and placing your bikes in carports and driveways where they are most easily accessible.

    Much Love!

  69. I had a wonderfull time reading all the information you have givin’ me. I have 7 motorcycles. (Every one I worked/saved/paid for). All of which I keep inside when not riden. When leaving one of my bikes unattended on a ride, I never lose sight of it. But futhermore important!!!! Where did all of you get you education? The University of K-Mart? Walmart? 99 cent store? From reading all the info. your grammer, sentence structure, and common sense/making sense in speaking and reading skills is amusing. Half of what I read made no sense to me at all. Hell, I have no idea how the f**k most of you made it out of grade school, let alone passed a cycle test or even no how to ride. I in no way promote or condone the theft of anything, but after reading the motorcycle theives comments proves to me that they not only are more educated, but also have more common sense and a higher I.Q.

How about this: KEEP YOUR BIKE INSIDE!! I live in a condo. NO GARAGE. ALL 7 bikes come in thru the front door. Start using a little more common sense rather than a 9mm.

  73. It easy, you just need to knock a flat head into the ignition, turn it clockwise, then push the start button, don’t forget to remove the screw driver cause that would be obvious, then and this is very important, get the bike up to about 120-135MPH take off your helmet off then crash into a tree.

You thieves are a waste of sperm!

    Comment by diddy — 8/24/2006 @ 8:10 am

  74. Hey, i have stolen many bikes and quads . i have new ignitions on all of them, and new frames with titles on most. my tip is, load it into a panel-van with no side windows, get it home in the garage, THEN FIGURE IT OUT! that way there is no pressure. Its a lot of work, but changing the frame is changing the numbers and you usually get a new title with it. be smart.

  75. My kawasaki 600 was stolen when I took a 3 month vacation in Perth Australia. I paid a ransom (knew the f**ker that took it but cops wouldn’t help) to get it back. Whoever did the work was a dumbass, they broke the lock barrel and then wired the two white wires together with a toggle. All they had to do was unbolt the barrel to take off the wheel locks. I heard from a friend that a bike theif ring was caught in midland. I hope it’s the bastards that took mine and ruined my vacation. I recomend a motion siren disk lock to everyone reading this. It’s not screaming loud, but plenty loud enough to think a bike thief think twice.

  77. Easiest way to steal a bike is break into the house, grab the keys for the garage, the locks, the bike and go. I know this because it happend to me whilst I was asleep 10 feet away from where I keep the keys(not because I steal bikes). And yes, I agree with those who own (their own) bikes and covet them - if I had caught whomever it was in the act of stealing from me, I would not have stopped until the perpetrator was dead and claimed self-defence. For those who are desperate enough to steal bikes and risk what you may come across in terms of an enraged ‘victim’, then I pitty you.

For those of you who steal, you already know that you are scumbags and are well aware that decent people and society don’t like you. There is no point in me therefore venting any anger. What I will say to you is that most of us would rather that we didn’t share our air with you and, if whomever it was that stole my bike comes back, you wont be breathing with the rest of society for very long afterwards.

  80. A guy offered me a bike for 1500, a brand new gsxr 600. i met him while he was riding it with no key. the bike had about 800 miles on it and a valid plate. would it be a stretch to spend 2000 on it if i really want it?

  85. Just wanted to find out how thieves think. Seems like securing one’s bike to something is the best way to thwart most of the joyriding and van-loading morons out there. Peace!

  87. stealing a bike its not hard i know cause ive done it….W/e but if u want to steal one thers a right way to do it and theres a wrong way to do it.the whole screw driver thing it works if u cant do it that way usaly if u rip the head lite out behind it should be all the wiring for the bike then from there u should know the rest

  88. My friend’s key broke in the lock and we just want to get the bike unlocked. Why set up a page like this to trap people? What purpose does it serve? Those people who steal will keep doing it anyway and those of us who don’t just get pissed off!

  89. Some Aus Natives broke into my house - they stole the key to my bike but couldn’t get it started as there was no bat in it (lucky 4 me) however I need it to get around plus I need to ride it to the shop to get a new ignition fitted. I have taken the headlight cover off and found the ignition wires. By crossing the red and the brown wire I can get it to turn over but the engine won’t fire. (The bike is a XT225 and works fine normally never had any touble with it) What am I doing wrong - why won’t it fire???

  91. Yeah I just picked up a ninja guy said it runs good but someone smashed the ignition off it I really didnt want to buy a new ignition until I could make sure the bike runs and shifts however after reading all this horse shit I guess it will be easier to just buy a new one. And for those of you who are planning on thieving a bike Get a job and buy one. I own two a cbr 900RR (with keys) and a ninja (without keys) if you get near mine you wont make it out of my garage before you die of lead poisoning.
